Will Vora Follow Pratibha?

Updated: February 4, 2012 1:30 pm

The year 2012 is going to be a hectic year in terms of elections. There are elections ahead in five states in another two months. After that, election for the President of India is also due in July. The term of President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil is ending. Though there are almost six months to go for the election, lobbying and speculations are afloat in full circle. Sources from the Congress say that the treasurer of AICC Motilal Vora is prominently in the fray. It is noteworthy that Vora’s membership of the Rajya Sabha too is ending this year and therefore the party is thinking of rewarding him for his loyalty by nominating him for the post of President of India.

Gadkari‘S Govind Mantra

Many leaders have their political career at stake in the assembly elections of Uttar Pradesh. One of them is BJP president Nitin Gadkari. He is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the better performance of BJP in the state. That is why he visited twice the former general secretary of BJP Govindacharya who is now enjoying his vanavas from the party. Sources claimed that Gadkari insisted on his comeback but Govindacharya once again turned down. However, he gave Gadkari some formulae for UP elections which very much delighted Gadkari. It is a wellknown fact that Govindacharya had invented the term “social engineering” in BJP to turn the OBC and dalit votes in favour of BJP. It is also a fact that both Gadkari and Govindacharya are Sangh’s favourites.

Ajit Goes To Bat For Jats

Though the alliance of Lok Dal and the Congress in Uttar Pradesh has been forged, Ajit Singh is still firm on his own agenda. When the UPA government passed the Muslim Reservation Bill allotting the Muslims 4.5 per cent reservations in the OBC quota, and all the Congress leaders started advertising it saying that they would extend it to 9 per cent in Uttar Pradesh, Ajit Singh, while praising the government for passing the Bill, consistently talked about extending it to 11 per cent. When Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid was asked in an informal discussion about the difference of 2 per cent, he laughed and replied that it was the problem of Ajit Singh. While speaking about the Muslim reservations, Singh also added two per cent of Jat reservations. He murmured that who would explain to Ajit Singh that this was the matter of Muslim reservations, not of Jat reservations?

Jai Ho Jaiprakash

Jaiprakash Agarwal has taken Surya Roshni Ltd to new heights. But he has not kept his dexterity confined only to the field of business entrepreneurship. He has taken several new initiatives in different fields to break new grounds. No wonder, he has been appointed National Convener of BJP’s Naturopathy Cell. It is noteworthy that worldwide this health system is becoming very popular day-by-day, as naturopathy is the least expensive and effective form of treatment. His appointment as National Convener will strengthen the naturopathy campaign in the country. Meanwhile, BJP President Nitin Gadkari has written a letter each to the Chief Ministers of all BJP-ruled states for the promotion of naturopathy so that millions of poor and backward people can benefit from naturopathy treatment.
