Will Salman tie the knot in 2013?

Updated: April 6, 2013 2:00 pm

He has everything in his life—name, fame, money and what not, but love has been eluding him. This is an irony of his life as one of the most successful Bollywood stars has failed to get his love even after being in the industry for over two decades now

Salman Khan started his career with a small role in the Hindi film Biwi Ho To Aisi in 1988, but the flick sank without a trace. Then came Suraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyar Kiya (MPK) in 1989, which catapulted him on cloud nine, turning him a star overnight. After the super-duper hit of the MPK, he never looked back. He became the heart-throb instantly. Once he turned star, his love life also attracted attention of the public. At that time, he was involved with 1980s Miss India Sangeeta Bijlani, but like a film story, no one was expecting this love story’s culmination into a marriage. Sangeeta got involved with cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and later married the ace player. But Salman was basking in glory, he did not care much about Sangeeta.

Time passed on. Meanwhile, another girl appeared in his life. It was Somi Ali from Pakistan. Somi was trying to have a foothold in Bollywood and Salman was helping her get a break in films. She acted in some flicks, but their relationship, too, did not last long.

Somi Ali bid a goodbye to the industry and went to the United States and with this ended this brief relationship before it could take wing. But Salman’s serious love affair started on the set of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (HDDCK) in 1999. In the film, he was working opposite the new sensation of Bollywood–Aishwarya Rai, who had bagged the Miss World title in 1994. Everybody was stunned with her beauty and Salman was no exception. They became good friends first and later their relationship turned into a love affair. In Bollywood, the jodi was seen as the most romantic at the time.

Everybody thought lady luck was smiling in the life of Salman. But it, too, turned out a mirage. Due to Salman’s reportedly drinking habit and arrogant behaviour, Aishwarya drifted away from his life. It is said that one night after being drunk, he knocked her house and created a scene. That proved the last nail in their love coffin. Things went horribly wrong thereafter. Salman tried his best to salvage the situation, but in vain. Their relationship touched rock bottom.

Time went by. Meanwhile, Aishwarya got involved with the upcoming star Vivek Oberoi. The new love story of Aishwarya Rai was the headline of newspapers. As expected, Salman was very upset with this new development and things turned ugly when Vivek Oberio called a press conference and openly challenged Salman. But then Vivek’s and Aishwarya’s relationship, too, floundered.

Aishwarya was looking for a suitable guy in her life who can respect her as a woman and she got the one. The lucky guy this time was Abhishek Bachchan. One day, Amitabh Bachchan called a press conference announcing the engagement of Abhishek and Aishwarya. Finally, in 2007, both got married.

Time and tide wait for none. Salman moved on. He got once again a statuesque beauty in the name of Katrina Kaif. Like Somi Ali, he helped his new love get a break in Bollywood. Meanwhile, after Aishwarya’s marriage, the film producers were looking for the replacement of Aishwarya. Katrina had all the qualities to step into the shoes of Aishwarya. After some initial flops, Katrina got some good films and soon she became the new beauty sensation in the industry.

Meanwhile, the love story of Salman and Katrina was also blooming. Everyone was expecting that Salman had finally got his love. But, will they tie the knot? Rumours are agog that Katrina is coming close to Ranbir Kapoor.

However, Salman is still with Katrina, but million-dollar question is: Will they tie the knot? Whenever media people put this question before Salman, he simply skips this saying, “Marry, I don’t know… But kids, I love them and want to have them.” But if kids, then who will be their mother. Only Salman can answer this question.

Salman’s father and noted scriptwriter Salim Khan is also anxious about his son’s marriage, but even he does not know when his son will be married. Once talking to press, he had said, “Even Allah Mia (God) would not be able to tell when Salman Khan will get married. I wish that our daughter-in-law should step in our home as early as possible, but it is not in our hands.” But then what can we understand is that Salman’s marriage is also mystery to his family.

When Uday India put this question before film journalist Ajay Brahmatmaj, he said, “There is an emotional bonding in the relationship of Salman and Kaitrina. But, I do not think this relationship will materialise into a marriage.” Salman’s father Salim Khan says, “Girls do not love Salman. .. they love his name and fame.’’

However, face reader Janardhan Baba feels that Salman will get a bride. “Salman will get married at the age of 49 to a girl who is not from the industry. The girl would be a North Indian.” He had predicated this on the set of Sony’s reality game show Dus ka Dum in 2009. On a website, noted numerologist Brijeshsh Lallwaani has predicated, “Salman’s marriage period started on 18/11/2012 and will remain active until the end of 2013. The chances of him getting married is really high in this period and all that is required is additional efforts from his family.”

If one believes on predictions, the year 2013 is going to be very crucial for Salman on the marriage front. Meanwhile, Salman’s fans are eagerly waiting for that great moment, when their star will get hitched with a girl. Till then we are keeping our fingers crossed.
