Updated: January 28, 2023 3:07 pm

The controversy over BBC’s documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi doesn’t seem to be stopping. Politics is intense regarding this matter. Meanwhile, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan has also reacted to this. He said that India is doing so well all over the world that’s why these people are feeling disappointed.

Governor Arif Mohammad Khan further asked why the BBC did not make a documentary on British atrocities. I feel sorry for some of my people, because they rely on a documentary rather than the verdict of the judiciary.
It is noteworthy that BBC has made a controversial documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose name is ‘India: The Modi Question’. This documentary is related to the 2002 Gujarat riots. Firstly, students in JNU had announced to show the controversial BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the screening of the controversial documentary could not take place and the electricity on the JNU campus was cut off. During this, there was stone pelting in the university campus.

At the same time, after JNU, an attempt was made to show the controversial BBC documentary in Jamia Millia Islamia, Ambedkar University as well. After which there was a lot of ruckus regarding the controversial documentary. Meanwhile, the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) general secretary said recently that the documentary will be screened in each state of the country. The government has called the BBC documentary disinformation and has banned the showing and sharing of any clip on social media in India.

It is worth mentioning here that in February 2002, 59 people had died after a train full of karsevaks was torched at Godhra in Gujarat. After this, riots broke out in the entire state. More than 2,000 people were killed in these riots. PM Modi has denied allegations of laxity in preventing the riots and was found innocent after a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry in 2012. The petition questioning the clean chit to PM Modi was dismissed last year by the court. BBC has said that this documentary has been prepared after rigorous research and the opinions of leaders associated with BJP have also been included in it.
