What questions is the Kejriwal govt facing on Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22?
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has defended Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia after Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena recommended a CBI probe against the excise policy of the Delhi government. The Lieutenant Governor has put Manish Sisodia in the dock while recommending an inquiry into the violation of the rules and procedural lapses of the 2021-22 Excise Policy of the Delhi Government. After the recommendation of Saxena, a new front of fight has opened between BJP and Aam Aadmi Party.
Manish Sisodia is considered number two in the Aam Aadmi Party after Arvind Kejriwal. After the arrest of Satyendra Jain, he is currently in charge of 19 departments. In such a situation, the name of Manish Sisodia coming directly in the report of the Chief Secretary of LG is considered to be a serious matter. The CBI inquiry has been recommended in this report itself. According to the LG office, Sisodia’s role is under investigation due to deliberate lapses.
Arvind Kejriwal released a video message on social media defending Manish Sisodia and said, “I have known Sisodia for 22 years. I have never seen an honest and patriotic man like him”. He said the Lieutenant Governor is making “false allegations”.
Earlier, BJP alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi Government has flouted all norms to bring the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 to benefit the liquor mafia. Addressing a press conference at party headquarters in New Delhi, Party leader and Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi said, the liquor policy was adopted illegally in Delhi. She also alleged that without Cabinet nod, more than one hundred forty-four crore rupees was waved off from the liquor cartel.
