Unable to Speak Hindi

It seems that the Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal is in a very bad mood these days. After getting prime attention in the beginning of the negotiation with Anna’s movement he was completely overlooked and sidelined by the government later. Recently, he failed to hide his embarrassment in Parliament when he was answering a question. The question was asked in Hindi, but the minister was answering in English. When he was asked to answer in Hindi, at first he simply parried the question. But when he was repeatedly asked to reply in Hindi, he went flying off the handle and said that he could not reply in Hindi. His mother had sent him to a school where only English was spoken and it was not his fault that he couldn’t answer in Hindi. The height of frustration!

Right choice

When Nitin Gadkari had announced his team after taking over the charge as new national president of BJP, he was criticised too much for the glamorous touch in his national team. It was said that inclusion of TV and film stars such as Smriti Irani and Hema Malini etc in the national executive was nothing but the sheer negligence of the hardcore party workers. But recently Smriti Irani, who now is also an MP from Gujarat in the Upper House, proved Gadkari correct by her activeness. She was the most active and aggressive MP in the Rajya Sabha, when the issue of appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat was raised and Chief Minister Narendra Modi was criticised by the ruling party. Ms Irani raised the party voice in a very effective manner and was duly praised by the party leaders.

Iftar Gaffe

Festivals are used to make and renew contacts by the political persons. BJP’s minority face Shahnawaz Hussain threw an Iftar party on the gracious occasion of Fid, this fetched fresh troubles for him. In fact, knowingly or unknowingly, he forgot to invite several minority leaders of the party, including the national convenor Tanveer Ahmed and other leaders of Minority Morcha. He also forgot to invite the leaders of Rashtravadi Muslim Munch, which is a creation of RSS to create a harmony between the patriotic Muslims and the Hindus. This negligence of Hussain had angered not only many party leaders but also the RSS leadership.

The most disputed spokesperson of the Congress Manish Tiwari had finally apologised to Anna for alleging him corrupt out of his head . But he was not at ease with the apology. That is why while he had put allegations in Hindi, he apologised in English only. The journalists asked him many times for a byte in Hindi too but Tiwari, who is very famous for giving each and every statement in both the languages, refused to give a byte in Hindi and left the journalists surprised.

On the other hand, Abhishek Manu Singhvi was left alone for presenting the party in the media during the Parliament session, despite a long list of spokespersons. Manish Tiwari, Rashid Alvi and Renuka Chaudhury had fallen in the dispute during the Anna’s movement, all were instructed not to brief the media any more.
