This Mahashivaratri, have darshan of Mahakal in 50 minutes

The festival of Mahashivaratri will be celebrated across the country on 18 February. Shiva devotees eagerly wait for this special day. People reach Shivalayas a day in advance to have darshan of their deity. Lakhs of devotees throng to Mahakaleshwar, the famous Jyotirlinga of Madhya Pradesh, on Mahashivaratri. This year arrangements like Simhastha Mahaparva will be made on Mahashivaratri in Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple. Devotees will be given entry through 12 queues from four gates. There will be three gates for exit. Signages are being installed from a distance of three kilometers to inform the devotees coming from Indore and Badnagar to reach the temple. Devotees will be able to have darshan of Baba Mahakal on Mahashivratri from 4 am only. Not only this, devotees will also get to see Baba Mahakal during Bhasma Aarti. Devotees will get entry from Kartikeya Mandapam in Bhasmarti. Devotees will be able to have a moving darshan here during the Aarti.

The temple administration claims that with better arrangements, the devotees will get darshan of Lord Mahakal in 50 minutes on the Mahaparva. Rehearsal of the darshan system will also be done. Temple Administrator Sandeep Kumar Soni said that this time elaborate arrangements are being made for crowd control. 14 parking substations are being built away from the city for vehicles coming from areas like Indore, Dewas, Badnagar etc. Buses and four wheelers will be parked there.

100 free buses will be run from the parking lot to reach the Mahakal temple. In these, devotees will reach Kirk Raj parking. There will be arrangements for a shoe stand there. After taking off the shoes and slippers, the devotees will stand in the queue for darshan. Visitors will enter the temple from Mansarovar Gate via Char Dham, Triveni Museum, Mahakal Lok. This entire route will be about three kilometers. In this, the devotees will be brought to the Mansarovar Gate from the barricades installed in three rows. Tents have been installed for shade all along the route. After this, the carpet will be laid. Due to this, the devotees will not have any problem in walking.

On Mahashivratri, barricades have been installed in an area of about eight kilometers from Karkraj parking to Chardham, Triveni, Mahakal Mahalok in a three-layer barricade. Of these, the barricades of about three and a half kilometers have been built by the temple committee itself. At the places where barricades have been installed, the work of laying carpet will start after washing and cleaning the road.

Mahashivaratri Deepotsav has been named as Shiv Jyoti Arpanam 2023. A Guinness World Record will be created by lighting 21 lakh lamps on the occasion of the festival. Earlier, in the year 2022 in Ujjain, a world record was made by lighting 11 lakh 71 thousand 78 diyas on Mahashivaratri.
