Sweet Lemon

When we think of having fruit juice, first and foremost fruit that comes to our mind is sweet lemon. Irrespective of the season, this juice is available round the year in any juice stall. This fruit looks like a big lemon but it tastes very sweet. That is the reason it is called sweet lemon. The pulp of the ripe fruit is in yellow colour. People do peel and eat the fruit, but juice is the most popular way of having this fruit. It has got high nutritional and medicinal values.

It juice is best made at home. To make this juice, wash 2-3 sweet lemons and pat them dry, cut them in halves and squeeze the juice using a juicer. Strain the juice into a glass and add little sugar, stir well and the refreshing juice is ready to serve. The drawback of sweet lemon juice is that some people are allergic to it and it is linked with the incidence of migraine and also considered a triggering factor in some asthmatics.


■    Sweet lemon juice is the best remedy for those suffering from scurvy, which is caused due to the deficiency of vitamin C. It helps in the speedy recovery because of the vast amounts of vitamin C present in this fruit.
