Updated: March 1, 2023 1:45 pm

There may be a reshuffle in the cabinet of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal soon. MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi may get a place in the cabinet. It is being said that CM Arvind Kejriwal has sent the names of both the MLAs to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.

Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain have recently resigned from the post of ministers. Arvind Kejriwal has also accepted the resignation of both the ministers. According to Delhi government officials, Kejriwal has accepted both the resignations and sent them to the LG for sending them to the President. After the resignation of Manish and Satyendra, there is talk of inducting two new faces in the cabinet. The number of ministers in the Delhi government has reduced to 5 now.

Satyendar Jain, former health minister in the Delhi government, has been in jail for the past several months. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. At the same time, CBI has detained Manish Sisodia in the alleged excise scam. Sisodia was arrested on Sunday evening. He was interrogated by the CBI for eight long hours.

Manish Sisodia had 18 portfolios out of 33. Of these, education, public works, finance and excise departments were important. After Satyendar Jain went to jail, Sisodia was also handling the responsibility of Jain’s departments. Jain held important portfolios like Health, Industries, Power, Home, Irrigation and Flood Control.

The Delhi government had moved the Supreme Court challenging the Rouse Avenue court’s decision to send Sisodia to CBI custody, but did not get relief.

According to the information, AAP has given the responsibility of Finance, Planning, Public Works Department, Power, Housing, Urban Development, Irrigation and Flood Control and Water Department to Kailash Gehlot. On the other hand, Raj Kumar Anand has been entrusted with the departments of Education, Land and Building, Vigilance, Services, Tourism, Art Culture and Language, Labour, Employment, Health and Industries.

It was only after the arrest of Manish Sisodia that it was decided that Satyendar Jain would also resign along with him. After mutual consultation and legal advice of the party, it was decided that the arrest would be challenged in the Supreme Court. Had there been relief from the court, the resignation of both the ministers would not have been accepted. AAP was prepared for both circumstances and consequences.
