Mardani Faces CBFC Hurdle
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has apparently toughened its stance on cuss words in films. It turns out Rani Mukerji’s film Mardaani is facing the brunt of this as the Censor Board has apparently asked its makers to delete the cuss word, ha*****da from the film”s trailer.
The board has asked for the profane words to be deleted from Mardaani’s promo. Apart from this, there was a scene in the promo showing a man attempting rape and this was also asked to be edited out; it showed the man pull at the blouse of a woman. Mardaani has Rani Mukerji play a crime branch officer who investigates human trafficking cases.
Raveena Replaces Sangeeta
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror Sangeeta Bijlani has opted out of her comeback film Shab and producer-director Onir has now replaced her with Raveena Tandon to play the elegant socialite. He is rewriting the part to suit Raveena who’s younger than Sangeeta. He met the actress a few weeks ago. Raveena is currently in Los Angeles and will start workshops from July 25 in Delhi.
It was the workshops which had scared Sangeeta who assumed that the intimacy would be projected through symbolic or suggestive visuals like in the 1990s. The film is about modern relationships and sex is an integral part. There is a full blown love making scene and some kisses too which Sangeeta wasn’t ready for.
