Russia’s double gift to India
The friendship between India and Russia started on 13 April 1947. Since then till now, Russia has remained shoulder to shoulder with India and fulfilled the duty of friendship. There is a war going on between Russia and Ukraine. In this situation, most of the countries of the world have turned against Russia. There were many occasions when India was under pressure to go against Russia, but India maintained its stand. India never supported the war, but also did not go against Russia. India has deep relations with Russia in many fields. Russia has once again fulfilled the duty of a friend. Yes, Russia is going to give India a special type of nuclear fuel for the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu. It is worth mentioning here that Russia earlier gave crude oil to India at a cheaper price.
In response to a question on Wednesday, Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space Jitendra Singh said in the Lok Sabha that Russia’s state-owned nuclear power company Rosatom has offered advanced fuel for the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant. He further said that the first lot of nuclear fuel named TVS-2M was received during May-June 2022 and has been loaded into Unit-1.
Minister Jitendra Singh informed that the TVS-2M gives an operating cycle of 18 months to the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, while the UTVS fuel used in Unit-2 has a cycle of 12 months. Now Russia has offered to replace UTVS type fuel with TVS-2M type fuel for Unit-2 also.
