Rose Flower
A rose is the most admired and evocative of flowers. On any occasion a rose conveys the warmest of wishes. William Shakespeare too praised it saying, “a rose is a rose in which ever garden it may bloom.” The very sight of it gives pleasant feeling. In Sanskrit it is known as Satapatri and Soumyagandha. It is called Gulab in Hindi. Rose The queen of flowers, with its mild fragrance is grown for decorational as well as medicinal purposes. Let us see how it benefits our body.
Anti-bacterial and anti- inflammatory properties of Rose help reduce swollen spots and redness of the skin. It can also sooth rosacea and eczema. Due to its cleansing properties it is used in oils, soaps, moisturisers, shampoos etc.
Rose acts as a great liver tonic. Take one cup of rose petals dry them in the shade and put them in two cups of water and boil till it becomes one cup. Now add sugar candy and boil till it comes to one thread consistency. Store it in a bottle and take one spoon of it in a cup of water daily in the morning. This removes heat from the body and too much thirst. This gives strength to liver too.
Good medicine for constipation. Dry rose petals, Sonamukhi (Senna) leaves, roasted sonth powder (dry ginger), kismiss (raisin), rock salt take all these powders in equal parts add honey and mix well. Store in a bottle and take about one tea spoon daily before going to bed. This will give relief from indigestion and constipation.
Nasal drops are made with rose petals to get relief from sneezing breathlessness and watery nose. Add rose petals to sesame oil and boil till the petals turn black. Now filter this oil in a muslin cloth and store. Put two drops in the nose to get relief from the above problems. The oil made with rose petals can give relief from back ache.
Rose contains anti-oxidants in the form of vitamin C. Rose water help prevent the sun burn. It can protect the skin cells from being damaged in the sun.
Beauty Benefits with Roses: Take ten to fifteen rose petals and soak them in water for an hour and grind them to paste. add Two spoons of rose water and three spoons of honey. Mix well and refrigerate it for fifteen minutes. Now apply this in circular motion on your face for ten minutes and then wash off with warm water. You can see your face glow up.
To make this moisturisers just add three drops of almond oil.
For dry skin it acts as moisturiser. The natural oils in the rose petals help lock moisture in the skin. Rose is beneficial for the skin because the sugars in its petals create a soothing feeling.
For Rose face pack add one spoon honey, two spoons of rose water and one spoon of curd to rose paste and apply to your face as pack. Wash off after ten minutes.
Rose essential oil is used to flavour many of your food items.
