Progressing With The Times
THE more things change, the more they remain the same. Take, for instance, Gandhiji’s “vendors of Christianityâ€. Time was when they could sell Christianity for the price of a fistful of rice. So their customers were called “rice Christiansâ€. But now that Christianity has developed into a Multi-National Company (MNC) the price has to become much more attractive. So Satiricus was not surprised to see the Pope tweeting the other day that “philanthropy is the best means of evangelismâ€. Rather, he is impressed to see Christianity Incorporated progressing with the times, and yet keeping to a time-tested business tactic. The product remains the same, but the packaging becomes more modern. See? Wasn’t secular Satiricus right when he said the more Christian things change, the more they remain the same?
