Updated: June 1, 2017 2:54 pm

ollywood movie Phullu which released recently depicts an ordinary man with a vision to break the taboo surrounding menstruation and to relieve the women of his village from the trauma and health hazards they go through during ‘those days’. His journey is full of inquisitiveness as he questions the beliefs around a natural phenomenon.  The story line is unique as it would be the country’s first film talking about sanitary pads.

Actor Sharib Hashmi, who plays the lead character in the film Phullu which is about sanitary pad awareness, said he does not have any discomfort in talking about menstruation and he wonders why people become apprehensive in discussing a natural physical process.

Asked if he ever felt any discomfort acting in the film, Sharib told agencies, “When the script came to me, I was just blown away by the idea. So, I immediately thought of doing the film. As a man, I have no discomfort to talk about periods. In fact, I wonder why people make a taboo out of it.”
