Parting Ways

Updated: July 5, 2014 12:31 pm

Chitrangada has always been vocal about Sudhir Mishra’s contribution to her career, even saying in interviews that the director, who gave her a “dream debut” with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, is the most influential person in her life. But as they say, all good things come to an end. All is not well between Chitrangada Singh and her mentor Sudhir Mishra. Buzz is, the actress and the filmmaker are not on talking terms anymore. The filmmaker and the actress collaborated again on Yeh Saali Zindagi in 2011 and Inkaar in 2013. Friction between the two set in when she did a song-and-dance number in Shirish Kunder’s Joker (2012) which did not go down well with Mishra, who was also not too kicked about her glamorous avatar in Desi Boyz (2011). But now, Chitrangada has decided that she needs to consider offers from other banners and not wait for Mishra to put his much-delayed Mehrunissa on floors.

Records Kick In For Salman

The trailer of Salman Khan‘s Kick, which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda, Mithun Chakraborty, Archana Puran Singh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui has set a record by the number of hits on YouTube.

Released on YouTube on June 15, 2014, the first trailer of Kick has already reached almost the 5 million hits mark in just forty hours – 5,190,710 million to be exact as we file this report. Kick is reportedly the remake of a Telugu film with the same name. The film has also been remade in Tamil and both the versions have done well at the cash counters. Amitabh Bachchan also seems to be impressed with the trailer of the film and compared it to Hollywood films and took on to twitter and wrote, “Did you see the trailer of KICK…..baaadooom !! Compares with anything that the other ‘wood’ brings out from their high end films!”

Kjo’s Women Company

After Sonam Nair who directed the teenage drama, Gippi (2013) for him, Karan Johar has two more promising women directors on his radar—Gauri Shinde and Kiran Rao. Mumbai Mirror reports that Karan has shown keen interest in their upcoming projects and expressed his desire to produce them under his banner Dharma Productions. While he has had multiple meetings with Gauri discussing her project, he has also spoken to Kiran about hers. This puts Kiran in a kind of a spot, as now she might have to choose between her home banner Aamir Khan Productions and Dharma. Gauri and Kiran have both kept the details of their respective projects under wraps. However, buzz is that Gauri’s film will be a social comedy unlike her debut venture English Vinglish. On the other hand, Kiran, is planning a film with roots in the city she was born and brought up in i.e. Kolkata.

John Goes Rocky Handsome

John Abraham’s next home production, Rocky Handsome, is an official remake of South Korea’s highest grossing film of 2010, The Man From Nowhere. The film went on the floors in Hyderabad recently. It is a 40-50 day schedule which will be followed by a second 10-15 day stint in Goa and wrap up with 20-odd days of shooting in Mumbai. The original film is an action-thriller which follows the journey of a lone crusader, played by Won Bin, who goes on a murderous rampage against the drug mafia when the only person he cares for, a seven-year-old girl, is taken from him along with her mother. John will be playing the role of Won Bin, while Natalie a Brazilian model turned-actress will be playing the mother of the seven year old. Shruti Hassan will be the leading lady of the film. John will be taking on four villains in the film.
