Over 60% voting recorded in first phase of Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, polling for the first phase of the Assembly Elections was held yesterday in 58 Assembly Constituencies spread over 11 districts. Over 60 percent of voter turnout was registered in this phase. The state is witnessing Seven-Phased elections.

Among the prominent candidates in this phase were Pankaj Singh, sitting MLA from Noida and son of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Baby Rani Maurya, former Uttarakhand governor who is contesting from Agra Rural.
