National Sports Day: VP, PM, Sports Minister greet sports persons

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has greeted all sports persons on National Sports Day. In a series of tweets, Mr Naidu said the COVID pandemic has affected normal sporting activities. He said it also reinforces the need to be physically fit and mentally strong to fight Coronavirus.

The Vice President asked people to pledge to make causes like ‘Fit India’ people’s movements and take up fitness activities to fortify physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. He also paid his tributes to hockey maestro and Olympian, Dhyan Chand whose birth anniversary is celebrated as the National Sports Day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said National Sports Day is a day to celebrate the remarkable achievements of all those exemplary sportspersons who have represented India in various sports and made our nation proud. He said their tenacity and determination are outstanding.
