NALCO organises programme for children

Updated: September 8, 2016 12:27 pm

“Nalco is committed to nurture the dreams of the marginalised children of the Maoist-infested and tribaldominated Koraput district of Odisha, through mainstream education and shall encourage the hidden talents by instituting annual awards,” said Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO, while addressing a kaleidoscopic programme ‘Indradhanush’ recently. The programme was organised for the 162 children of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar, whose education is being taken care of by NALCO Foundation, the CSR arm of the company. It may be mentioned that NALCO Foundation, as one of its flagship programmes, is taking care of the education of 655 children from the periphery villages of NALCO’s Mines & Refinery Complex, located in Damanjodi. The Foundation provides formal education to these children via three residential schools – KISS (Bhubaneswar), Koraput Development Foundation (Jeypore) and Bikash Vidyalaya (Koraput). “This year, we are adding 100 more children from Pottangi area,” informed Dr. Chand.
