MHA issues SOP for movement of people by trains

Ministry of Home Affairs, MHA has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the movement of people by trains beginning tomorrow and made it clear that only asymptomatic and confirmed ticket holders will be allowed to travel.

In an order, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said, all passengers will have to observe social distancing norms during while entering a station and during travel. The Railways Ministry will ensure compulsorily screening of passengers. As per the SOP, passengers will have to strictly adhere to health and hygiene protocols and social distancing.  They will be given hand sanitizer at entry and exit points at station and in coaches. Masks during the travel will be mandatory.

On arrival at their destination, the travelling passengers will have to adhere to such health protocols as are prescribed by the destination state or union territory. The Railways Ministry have been asked to publicized the train schedule, protocols for booking, entry and movement of passengers and coach service specifications.

The health advisories and guidelines will be circulated by the Ministry of Railways through the Information, Education and Communication campaign for their staff members and passengers
