Raisins are the dried form of grapes and are available in golden, green and black colours. They are a favourite delicacy for almost everybody, especially for children and can be considered nature’s healthy alternative to candies. Mountaineers and trekkers too prefer to have raisins as they are a healthy food.

Raisins are used in various cuisines like cookies, cakes, snacks and in many other food items all over the world. They have been in medicinal use for very long as they contain nutrients like natural sugar and potassium. Studies on raisins have confirmed that certain substances in raisins have beneficial effects on practically every part of our body. Further research in the last 20 years has revealed that they contain anti-oxidant factors which have an important place in medicine and nutrition. This shows how important raisins are in our diets.
