Manish Sisodia deliberately changed phone, 1.23 lakh email dumps found, ED remand extended by 5 days
Manish Sisodia, accused in the Delhi Excise Policy scam case, was presented in a Delhi court on Friday, where the court sent the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi to five-day ED custody. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had sought his 7-day remand. In the Special Court of CBI Judge M.K. Nagpal, during the hearing of the case, the ED said that Sisodia’s remand is needed. They said that Sisodia has been confronted with Alok Srivastava of Delhi Excise Department.
The ED told the court that Manish Sisodia has to be interrogated further, while he has been interrogated in front of the other accused in the case Arvind, Gopikrishna and Sanjay Goyal. The investigating agency further said, ”Some facts have come to the fore. Mobile data has been retrieved, which is a lot… 1.23 lakh email dumps have been found from Sisodia’s cloud… i cloud data has also been retrieved. All these have to be inquired about.”
On this, Manish Sisodia’s lawyer said in the court, “So far only 11 hours of questioning has been done in 7 days. Only 4 people have been made face-to-face.” The investigating agency pretends to be interrogating on the last day before presenting it to the court.
Manish Sisodia’s lawyer asked, ”The ED should tell what investigation has been done so far?” On the instructions of the ED’s investigating officer, the ED’s lawyer opposed the argument of Manish’s lawyer and said that every day 5 to 6 hours of questioning is being done.
Sisodia’s lawyer said that within a few days of the registration of the FIR by the CBI, the ECIR was registered in August 2022, the computer was seized and examined and now the other agency wants to repeat the same process. Sisodia’s lawyer opposed ED’s demand for extension of remand and asked whether ED is working as a proxy agency of CBI.
