Maharaja Agrasen Institute Of Technology Infusing The Highest Ideals Of Universal Serenity
India’s uniqueness lies in its great foundations—the search of the Mahrishis and Sages for the highest vital knowledge and precision. It has been continuously transmitted to generations and kept alive through its long history. As a result, India’s culture has been persistent, even through periods of decline. This theme of higher knowledge informs and inspires even the latest developments in the Indian educational system.
India’s resurgence, which began in the last decades of the 19th century, has been obvious by multi-sided awakening and inspiration, which enabled the nation to make precious contribution in the services of the people of the world. Indian culture has always stood for universality and brotherhood of the entire human race. We believe in Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam. We aspire to develop a national system that should be geared to the highest ideals of universal serenity and harmony. Malcolm Forbes rightly said: “Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.” Mind should be free from any prejudice. Keeping this ideal in mind a group of far-sighted and public-spirited people founded Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society (MATES) in 1998. The core charter of the society is to realise that vision by establishing institutions of excellence.
Pursuing that vision, the society established Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology in the year 1999. Another institute, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies was established in the year 2003. Third institute, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Advance Studies was established in 2008. Over the course of 11 years, Maharaja Agrasen Technical Education Society has been navigating the Institute’s educational mission to provide quality technical and management education to its students, from all across the country so that they acquire deep knowledge and strong character to contribute meaningfully in nation-building and for improving citizens’ quality of life. It is indeed a matter of great satisfaction for the founders that these institutions are marching towards building a national asset.
Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology recently inaugurated Maharaja Agrasen Open library and Swami Vivekananda Meditation Centre. Purpose of this library is to make the students aware of Indian culture and philosophy. Books on national interest and spiritual values are also available in the library. Students can release their stress in the Meditation Centre. The institute makes the students fully capable to face the real-life challenges successfully and make them strong enough to survive the environment effectively, so that they contribute positively and significantly to the society and become partners in building the nation. Time to time, it arranges discourses by organisations such as Vivekananda International Foundation, International Society for Krishna Consciousness, etc.
It keeps in mind the present-day problems of environment, worldwide peace and global cooperation. It recognises the need of harmonious association between the individual, environment and the universe. However, the harmony and unity can come about in the outer space only when our inner space is purified and perfected. One must realise one’s internal and imperishable being. The institute believes that our education system should be built at all levels on the basis of these precepts and insights. The institute is deeply committed to strengthen our educational system, thanks to its faculty members, who have steered the institute in an excellent manner since its inception. Besides internal management issues, the external parametre has also focused on inputs rather than output. As a result, higher education in India has lost its way, in terms of creating new frontiers of knowledge. It is high time the policy-makers looked seriously into all contours of the quality of higher education system.
Maharaja Agrasen Institute, as an institute of higher learning, aims to provide well-qualified manpower to the country. Quality is never an accident, it is always the result of intelligent efforts. Continuing with the vision to establish institutions of excellence, the Society is evidently progressing with the beginning of construction of the Maharaja Agrasen University in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. The Maharaja Agrasen University seeks to realise its vision of providing training to the youth—from the state as well as the rest of the nation—in the tradition of an ancient Gurukul, and nurturing them to become high-quality professionals, dedicated citizens and good human beings. The university will be functional with the session of July 2012.
