Karnataka Rain Update: Red alert declares in three districts
In Karnataka, incessant and heavy rains continued in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Uduppi districts. A red alert has been declared in these districts. In Kodagu, the district administration announced a holiday today for colleges, schools, and Anganwadis.
According to reports, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai yesterday held discussions with the Deputy Commissioners of rain-affected districts. Speaking to the media in Bengaluru he said that rescue works are on and he has directed officials to take up relief work immediately. He further said that because of heavy and incessant rain houses and properties are damaged in coastal and Kodagu districts. He said NDRF and SDRF teams should be deployed immediately to take relief measures. Meanwhile, due to heavy rain in the catchment area of K.R.S reservoir, the water level is rising to full storage level and there is a likelihood of releasing surplus water at any moment.
