Gujarat govt to exempt new projects from provisions of labour laws
In a bid to start industrial activity affected by the lockdown, the Gujarat government announced exemptions for the new projects from the provisions of labour laws.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said the relaxation will be applicable only to the new projects on the condition that they work for 1200 days. The state government is also attracting foreign companies which want to shift from China.
In order to revive the economic activity, attract investments and generate employment, the state government has decided to give some relaxation to the new projects in labor laws.
However, certain provision of labour laws, such as minimum wages, safety norms and full compensation in case of an accident will continue to be effective.
Cheif Minister Rupani said the government will come out with an ordinance for the execution of the decisions.
Mr Rupani said the government has also invited foreign companies to invest in the industrial townships of the state and assured them all kind of support.
