Green Tea: For Good Health

Now-a-days the number of people drinking green tea has increased drastically. Even those people who are not in favour of drinking tea are willing to drink green tea because of its innumerable health benefits. Around four thousand years ago, Chinese have used it for medicinal purposes. Today scientific research on green tea proves that from headache to tension, Alzimers to acidity for that matter for any ailment it acts as a wonderful medicine.

According to a Chinese proverb, “better to be deprived of food for three days than tea for one”.

Method to prepare Green Tea

For preparing one cup of tea, take one tea bag or half-spoon green tea leaves. Boil water in the kettle. Put the stove off and wait for three minutes, then pour this hot water on tea leaves or tea bag. Wait for three minutes, now remove the tea bag, wait for three minutes and then drink this tea and enjoy its refreshing taste. The steeping technique plays a very important role in avoiding the tea developing an overcooked taste. One should strictly follow the method otherwise the beneficial polyphenols will turn into very bitter taste.

►  Helps in protecting our teeth: Green tea destroys the harmful bacteria in the plaque and protects the teeth. The fluorine in the tea helps in stopping the formation of cavities in the teeth.

►  Arthritis: Those who consume four to five cups of green tea can control rheumatoid arthritis.

►  Strengthening immunity: Some persons have low stamina as they are habituated to low calorie diet; Gurana, which is present in green tea, helps them enhance their immunity.

►  Protects from kidney-related infections: Regular consumption of green tea helps reduce the chances of kidney-related infections

►  Improves performance of brain: Green tea has various nutrients which help fight against nervous diseases like multiple sclerosis and also enhance the working process of the brain.

►  Improves digestion & Appetite: Green tea works wonders in enhancing the appetite and also helps in digestion.

►  Protects from cancer: Cancer is considered one of the most dreadful diseases. It is believed that even the cancer cells are attacked and stopped from entering the body by the nutrients present in green tea. Experts say that those suffering from cancer can control and stop spreading of the disease by regularly taking this tea. There is a powerful anti-oxidant, epigallocatechin galate, present in this tea that inhibits the growth of cancer causing cells.

►  Protects heart: Green tea prevents the oxidation of LDL cholesterol thereby reducing the plaque in the arteries and risk of heart diseases. This is because of the epigallocatechin galate which is present in the green tea. How much ever Japanese smoke they do not suffer from any heart ailments, this is because of regular consumption of green tea.

►  Protects skin: Research tells us that extracts of green tea mixed with hot water and applied externally on the skin, reduce the effects of radiation. It should be applied three times daily, for effective protection from radiation.

►  Helps lose fat in the body: With the help of green tea extracts we can speed up the process of burning the calories. More the amount of polyphenols in the body, the better fat burning effects and benefits will be. Green tea is a rich source of polyphenols, that is why it is considered one of the best weight-loss alternatives available in the market today and is considered the best medicine for obesity. Even the digestive process works at a faster rate and helps in reducing the fat content.

In the past, this herbal beverage was normally consumed for its healing qualities, but ever since more benefits have been discovered it has become an all-round remedy. So include it in your daily diet not only to reduce fat but also to cleanse and protect your body from various diseases.
