Govindacharya On Front Foot

Updated: December 3, 2011 4:58 pm

After Uma Bharti’s return now her political mentor Govindacharya’s comeback is likely to be seen soon. His much awaited comeback may raise many eyebrows, as the comment made lately by Sarsanghchalak of RSS has opened the door. It is said that Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagvat has recently said in an in-house meeting that the issue of Govindacharya’s return must be resolved soon within a certain time frame. His comment was taken on a too serious note. It became transparent after the defeat of BJP in 2009 general elections, and it is believed that the RSS is taking control of BJP. However, sources say that Govindacharya will join the RSS not the BJP. Many a time in the past, Govindacharya refused to work on a political field.

Jaitapur In Jeopardy

Jaitapur nuclear power project has become an eyesore to the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance government. Congress favours the project. There has been vehement opposition from day one so far as the power project is concerned. The state unit of NCP is also participating in the protest. Though, national leadership is not very active on the turf. A senior Congress leader alleged that the Jaitapur area has become a haven for smugglers. So much so, the NCP leaders who once stood firm against this menace are also getting a big cut. That is why Chief Minister of Maharashtra (Congress) has said more emphatically that home ministry should function under the CM, which is now under NCP.

Delhi Yadav Hits For Six

Bhupendra Yadav, national secretary of BJP has become a new trouble shooter for the party at least on the legal front. This Supreme Court practitioner who once worked with ABVP, a student organisation linked with RSS is believed to have soldiered the responsibility of dealing with all legal matters of the party. He is the same man who prepared the ground to pitch the battle for the party in the Ayodhya case. He was also looking after the case of ‘cash for vote’ in which all the MPs of the party were granted bail. He is also assisting Ram Jethmalani who is fighting the case for Narendra Modi, Chief Minister of Gujarat. Yadav is also looking after the probe cases of NIA against RSS. This has raised his stock in the party.

International Trade Fare has kicked off in New Delhi. People are rushing off to visit this but there are many worrisome issues too. Last year it was observed that there were a good number of cases of shop-lifting and molestation that seemed to tarnish the image of the Trade Fair. This time Delhi Police have taken extra precautions to check such menace. They claim to have installed more than 100 CCTV cameras at different points, intersections and pavilions but how many of them are working is a matter of serious concern. Sources say that only 40 of them are working properly.
