Fray over Kheda: Case registered in Assam, arrested from Delhi airport
Congress leader Pawan Kheda is reported to have been arrested from Delhi airport. The Congress party claimed that Kheda was arrested by the Assam Police. However, this has not been officially confirmed. It is being said that the police arrested him in a case registered at Kheda in Dima Hasao district of Assam. Earlier, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate had alleged that Pawan Khera was not allowed to board the Indigo flight. Notably a few days back Kheda had given a controversial statement regarding PM Narendra Modi. BJP had made a big attack on his statement. A case has also been registered against Kheda in UP in this matter.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that neither the police had a production warrant nor a magistrate’s order to arrest Kheda. This police wants to make illegal and illegitimate arrests. On the other hand, Assam Police’s IG Law and Order Prashant Kumar Bhuiyan said that a team of Assam Police has left for Delhi to take Pawan Kheda into custody. Significantly, a case is registered against Congress leader Pawan Kheda at Haflong police station in Dima Hasao district.
Supriya Shrinate said that the question is under which section Kheda has been stopped. What has he done that you cannot let him fly like a common citizen. You are so enraged by our convention that earlier you used to send ED there, now you are doing it. And the biggest thing is that if he has done something wrong, then take action, what is the work of playing hide and seek. Why is noora-kushti being played? This dictator is just furious and is doing such things. There is proof of that. The plane will not fly until all of us sit in this flight with Pawan Kheda.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh also attacked the central government by tweeting. He tweeted, ‘First ED raided Raipur, now Pawan Khera has been taken off the flight from Raipur by Delhi Police. Another name for dictatorship is Amit Shahi. The Modi government wants to disrupt our national convention. We are not afraid, will continue to fight for the countrymen.’
