Congress, BJP Are China’s Puppets!

Updated: October 15, 2011 1:42 pm

The India-China Strategic Economic Dialogue started in Beijing last fortnight. Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia led the Indian delegation. Doubtless this will greatly cheer the UPA cabinet. It might even help India achieve a 9 per cent growth rate. In the scramble for China the BJP is not being left behind. Recently Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was in China striking economic deals. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit China by the end of this year on an invitation personally extended last month by the Chinese Ambassador to India, Mr Zhang Yan. He met the CM during the India-China Economic and Cultural Council meeting in Gandhinagar. Mr. Modi has been to China twice before on official visits. Government sources said that he was very keen to develop strong relations with China and Chinese authorities were reciprocating. Why shouldn’t they? The leaders of both Congress and BJP are more subservient to Beijing than Raja Jaichand and Mir Jaffar were to their foreign masters.

Foreign Minister SM Krishna is crowing about the fact that America has recognised the terrorist links of Pakistan’s ISI. The BJP leaders never tire of lambasting the Pakistanis for aiding and abetting terrorism. Fair enough! But from where does Islamabad draw its strength for defying the world to become the hub of global terrorism? Pushed into a corner by the world the ISI has recently released its report acknowledging that it had in the past allowed transfer of nuclear technology to other nations. The transfers occurred because of “the loose arrangement in those early days”. Islamabad was compelled to release the report in order to prevent the US from interrogating its rogue nuclear scientist AQ Khan held responsible for the proliferation.

Things did not work out as Islamabad planned or its masters in Beijing would have liked. British journalist Simon Henderson has acted as AQ Khan’s trusted confidante for many years. Whenever Islamabad harassed Khan, Henderson would leak a letter to Western media implicating the Pakistan government. Now he has released an explosive and bitter letter written by Khan to his Dutch wife, Henny dated 2003. In that letter Khan has nailed the Pakistan military and the Chinese government for proliferation of nuclear technology and material. He has urged his wife to take a “tough stand” if Pakistani establishment “plays any mischief with me”. He wrote: “Tell them they first used us and now playing dirty games with us… You know we had cooperation with China for 15 years. We put up a centrifuge plant at Hanzhong (km250 south-west of Xian). We sent 135 C-130 plane loads of machines, inverters, valves, flow meters, pressure gauges. Our teams stayed there for weeks to help and their teams stayed here for weeks at a time. Late minister Liu We, V.M. [vice minister] Li Chew, Vice Minister Jiang Shengjie used to visit us… the Chinese gave us drawings of the nuclear weapon, gave us 50 kg enriched uranium, gave us 10 tons of UF6 (natural) and 5 tons of UF6 (3 per cent). Chinese helped PAEC [Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, the rival organisation to the Khan Research Laboratories] in setting up UF6 plant, production reactor for plutonium and reprocessing plant.”

Beijing’s mask is officially off. How Washington deals with its criminal negligence during all the time it was wooing Beijing and Islamabad is its own business. What should concern us is the role of the Indian politicians. No Indian politician confronts China on its Pakistan policy. Seeking business politicians crawl to Beijing which provides the strength that sustains the terror-aiding section of the Pakistan government to carry out its nefarious agenda. History, surely, will damn the present political leaders of India cutting across party lines for displaying unparalleled slavishness to China and betraying India ’s national interest. Ironically, there still stands a unanimous parliamentary resolution forbidding the government from any contact with Beijing until India recovers every inch of territory illegally seized by China. Future generations will marvel how such a contemptible class of corrupt politicians was ever allowed to rule India.
