Updated: August 28, 2020 12:27 pm

The Centre has rejected the allegation raised by the Delhi government that the Home Ministry is putting pressure on the City Government officers not to increase testing in Delhi. The Home Ministry has termed the allegation as false and baseless.

Earlier, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain had written a letter in this regard to the Home Secretary.

In a tweet, the Home Ministry spokesperson said that after the intervention of Home Minister Amit Shah, the daily tests in Delhi, which were averaging around four thousand per day till mid June, have now gone up to around 18 to 20 thousand per day. The Ministry said, the marked improvement in the COVID-19 situation in Delhi has been possible due to this enhanced testing and other containment measures.
