The Government is developing infrastructure near farms for the benefit of small and medium farmers. In this regard, an Agriculture Infrastructure Fund of one lakh crore rupees has been created through which projects of more than four thousand crore rupees have been approved.

This was stated by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar while addressing a function organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry yesterday. He said, ten thousand Farmer Producer Organizations will be set up to provide a better market to the farmers and enhance their income.

The Minister said the Centre is committed to the upliftment of the farmers and has brought the Agriculture Reforms Act to bring about a radical change in the sector. With the new farm laws, the whole country will be an open market for the farmers and the private sector can also now invest in modern agri-business platforms and setting up post-harvest facilities like godowns-cold storage.

Mr. Tomar also said the government is committed to address various challenges faced by the agriculture sector including climate change.
