Central team reaches Patna to assess extent of damage caused by floods
In Bihar, a six member central team reached Patna yesterday on a three day tour to assess the extent of damage caused by the floods in the state. The team will visit the worst affected Darbhanga ,Gopalganj and Muzaffarpur districts today. The team comprises officials from the Union ministries of Home, Agriculture and Health. The team held meetings with top officials of the state government to review the situation.
After visiting flood affected areas, the team will hold a review meeting with Chief secretary and officials of the state disaster management department. The team will then return to Delhi and submit its report to the central government for assistance. Meanwhile, over 83 lakh 62 thousand people spread over 1,333 panchayats of 16 districts are reeling under the impact of floods. 21 teams of NDRF and SDRF are carrying out relief and rescue operations.
