Bihar: Flood situation turns grim in Gangetic basin of state

In Bihar, flood situation turned grim in Gangetic basin of the state. Surging water of Ganga is fast engulfing low lying areas of Patna, Buxar, Munger and Bhagalpur. People living in low lying areas are migrating to safer places. Water level of Ganga is above danger mark and is maintaining rising trend all along its course from Buxar to Patna.

All gates of Farakka barrage have been opened in view of increasing water level of Ganga river. The Met department has warned of heavy to moderate rainfall in next 48 hours in most parts of the state. The Patna district administration has instructed officials to remain on alert. Deputy Chief Minister Renu Devi said, NDRF and SDRF teams are carrying out relief and rescue operations in flood affected areas of the state.
