Though Cyclone Nisarga has moved away from western coast and Mumbai-Thane region towards northern parts of Maharashtra and further weakened into deep depression, the remnants of the cyclone hit the region hard since early morning. The Cyclone made a landfall yesterday noon at Alibaug, in Raigad district, about 95 kms from Mumbai.

Entire western coast, along with Mumbai- Thane region, Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar and Aurangabad districts are experiencing high speed winds with thunderstorm and rains since early morning. This led to uprooting of trees and electricity poles besides other damages even today. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray will take stock of the situation through video conferencing this noon.

In Madhya Pradesh, the impact of the cyclone Nisarga is visible on the entire state. Intermittent rains continue with heavy winds since last night in most districts.
