Centre to states: Strictly implement all measures to contain COVID-19 pandemic

Centre today asked states to strictly implement all measures to contain COVID-19. It said the local authorities must take all necessary steps to enforce the Home Ministry’s guidelines related to lockdown.

In a letter to state Chief Secretaries, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, while citing media reports and other sources over the violations of Central guidelines, said all authorities in States and UTs should take necessary steps to ensure the  implementation  of  measures to contain COVID-19.

He highlighted the  proper delineation of containment zones and effective implementation of  containment measures in the zones and  following the national directive for COVID-19 management among other measures. He said states should ensure night curfew or prohibition of all non-essential activities between 7 PM and 7 AM adding that it is an important element of Home Ministry’s guidelines.

Mr. Bhalla also asked State Chief Secretaries and Administrators of UTs  to remain vigilant in the fight against COVID-19.
