COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra jumped to 3081

According to the latest tally, with 165 new cases being recorded in last 12 hours in Maharashtra, the total number of COVID-19 positive patients in state has jumped to 3081. However, Mumbai recorded 35% fewer cases and only 2 deaths – lowest in last 11 days. In Pune, police made the morning walk offenders to do yoga on the road. In Mumbai, people were again seen making rush at the vegetable market at Byculla, a rather crowded area in Mumbai. After the police stopped vehicles from entering Mumbai, vegetable vendors were seen selling vegetables near the octroi post. While APMCs are being opened in phased manner at some place across Maharashtra, where COVID19 positive cases are less.

In Thane, the administration has closed the main wholesale vegetable market in order to maintain social distancing. Now new wholesale market would be opened at 17 places in 9 wards of the city. Besides this, implementation of various central government schemes has already started across the state. People are being benefitted under various schemes.

Meanwhile, cab aggregator Ola has announced its partnership with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to support essential mobility amid the nationwide lockdown. Ola has provided a dedicated fleet of cars to BMC in order to help ferry medical staff, healthcare workers and paramedical staff from homes to hospitals in Mumbai. The cars will also be used to ferry doctors and BMC officials across Mumbai to help the frontline warriors fight against COVID-19.
