Saudi-African & Arab-African summits postponed due to Coronavirus
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced yesterday the postponement of the Saudi-African and Arab-African summits, scheduled to be hosted by the Kingdom in the first quarter of 2020. The postponement has been done as a precaution in view of the spread of the COVID-19 across the globe. The new dates will be announced later.
In a statement, the ministry affirmed that this postponement comes in line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s keenness on taking precautionary measures to combat the new Coronavirus within framework of the international efforts in this regard as well as the measures recommended by the competent health authorities to reduce gatherings.
Saudi Arabia said that the decision was taken in coordination with the two regional organizations. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the disease COVID-19 as a pandemic and has asked the affected countries to take appropriate measures to control it.
