Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat: National Integration Camp to be held in Namchi, South Sikkim
The central government’s Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat programme aims to establish cultural exchanges between people of different regions to further human bonding and a common approach to nation building. States and union territories have been paired to carry out a structured engagement among them in the spheres of language, literature, cuisine, festivals, cultural events, tourism etc. in a focused campaign. Sikkim has been paired with Delhi, under which activities such as youth exchange programmes and national integration camps have been planned in the northeastern state later this month. Sikkim state Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and nodal officer for Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat Shibashish Banerjee highlights the significance of the programme and the National Integration Camp to be held in Namchi, South Sikkim.
Activities such as symposiums, seminars, academic and language learning sessions and field visits would help participants to appreciate each others’ cultural differences. Additionally, the national integration camp will provide a great opportunity in terms of exposure to Sikkimese youth about the national capital’s multiple cultures.
