Ladakh experiences heavy snowfall; Srinagar-Jammu highway remains close for traffic

The Northern parts of the country continue to be affected due to rain and snow. In Jammu & Kashmir, moderate to heavy rains continuously lashed Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir region since morning today. Kashmir had also received another fresh spell of snowfall late last night. Normal life in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir has been affected due to latest snowfall.

The plains and upper reaches of the Valley have also received heavy snowfall. Srinagar recorded 12 centimetre of snow, Gulmarg 27 cm, and Pahalgam 21.5 cm. In north Kashmir’s frontier Kupwara district, normal life remained paralyzed due to heavy snowfall in the region from the past two days. The plain areas in the district received nearly two feet snow while in the upper reaches, it was around four feet.
