“Rohingya’s asylum in India will lead to demographic changes”
‘‘After a deadly attack on Myanmar security forces by Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, Myanmar security forces reignited military crackdown on Rohingya and as a result of that these people infiltrated in Assam and other north-eastern states. The question arises here is: how did these ten thousand people succeed in departing from the northeast to reaching Jammu? According to my information, there are some organisations which helped them to escape from there and all these conspiracies are being exercised to deliberately bring about demographic changes in the region,” said Sanjay Ganjoo, a Kashmiri Pundit and CEO of Bhaskar Foundation in conversation with Ravi Mishra. Excerpts :
Rohingyas are allegedly being persecuted by Myanmar army and due to this, they are running towards India. Should Rohingya be not given asylum here?
Rohingya radicals are involved in terrorism in Myanmar and their affiliation with Lashkar-e-Taiba of Pakistan is always known. If security forces of Myanmar are taking action against these radicals, we should never question them. If our government allows these people to stay in India then it will be disastrous for the country. Therefore, I hope the government never makes this mistake.
Recently, Kiran Rijiju said that all these Rohingya would be deported back to Myanmar. Should it happen?
Absolutely, our intelligence agencies are revealing numerous reports of Rohingya’s affiliation with terrorist organisations. Even there are some reports which suggest their enmity with even Rohingya Hindus. Therefore, for the security masseurs, we need to follow the instruction of our security agencies. Recently, a news published about graves of 28 Hindus killed by Rohingya militants were founded.
As to the government report, ten thousand Rohingyas have been living in Jammu for years. What would you like to say on this?
From the beginning you will have to look into this conspiracy. After deadly attack on Myanmar security forces by Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army, Myanmar security forces reignited military crackdown on Rohingya and as a result of that these people infiltrated in Assam and other north-eastern states. The question arises here is: how did these ten thousand people succeed in departing from the northeast to reaching Jammu? According to my information, there are some organisations which helped them to escape from there and all these conspiracy are being exercised to deliberately bring about demographic changes in the region.
Over 30% people are immigrants in the northeast and as a result the indigenous people are losing their identity and culture and now the same thing is being worked out in Jammu to make it a Muslim-majority region.
UN is demanding the intervention of India to adopt these refugees.
I am suspecting the credibility of UN. China too is a bordering state of Myanmar. Being a member of Security Council, should China not take onus on itself and give asylum to these refugees? But it is not possible, for, China itself persecutes Uighur Muslims living in Xinjiang state. Yet I am astonished that UN has advised only India to adopt Rohingyas.
Some minority leaders have filed a petition in Supreme Court to prevent deportation of Rohingyas by the government.
Please don’t forget, this same group forced Supreme Court to open its door at midnight. So they can cross any Laxaman Rekha to defend terrorists. There have been Pakistani refugees too living in Jammu since the partition of India. Gorkhas and Dalit community who served for J&k are not entitled to enjoy any government scheme. Does humanity not apply to them?
Muslim community has to say that on humanitarian ground the ethnic minority should be protected.
Which kind of humanity they are talking about? Where was their humanity, when four lakh Hindus from Kashmir were forcibly dragged out? Kashmiri Pundits were killed and molested. For three decades we are out of our homes. The Pundits, who constituted 15 pe cent of the population in 1941, declined to 5 per cent by the time of exodus from the Valley. Even there is no solution, yet we are confident about BJP government, which is proceeding towards settlement of Kashmiri Pundits in the Valley.
Rohingya people of Myanmar are facing refugee situation that led to their mass immigration from Myanmar to Bangladesh and India owing to ethnic cleansing. According to statistics, Rohingya were estimated more than one million in Rakhine state of Myanmar before this refugee crisis. This ethnic minority has never been assumed as the permanent resident of Myanmar and the presumption is given that all these Rohingya were brought from Bangladesh to Myanmar by British as workers. For decades there are clashes between Rohingya and Myanmar army. Several reports are suggesting that clashes between Rohingya and Myanmar military crackdown started in 2012 when Rohingya‘s affiliation with Pakistan based LeT and other terrorist organization came up. The infiltration of Rohingya towards Bangladesh and India started drastically since 2012. As to a government report, In India, Close to 40,000 Rohingya Muslims are living after fleeing from Myanmar over the past decades. Nearly 15,000 have received refugee documentation, according to a United Nations report. In Jammu alone, 10,000 Rohingya are living. Indian government and our intelligence agencies are assuming them as biggest threat due to their affiliation with Pakistan based terror outfit. It is also being said that their arrival in India will lead to demographic changes like Bengal and northeast states, which are facing demographic changes. Keeping these facts in mind Indian Government has decided to deport them back. In this backdrop, some minority groups of the country has challenged this decision in Supreme Court.
Rohingya most persecuted, should not be deported
‘‘More than ten thousand Rohingyas are living in Jammu and five months back, J&K chief minister Mehbuba Mufti said that Rohingyas are not a threat to India. A huge number of refugees are living in developed countries. If they don’t have problem with them, then why should India have any problem with Rohingyas? ’’said Mohammad Asrarul Haque, Congress MP from Kishanganj (Bihar) and state president of Jamat Ulema-e-Hind in conversation with Ravi Mishra. Excerpts:
Should Rohingyas be given asylum in India?
Absolutely, they should be. Rohingyas are mthe ost persecuted people on the earth and they are being killed, their homes are being torched and owing to this they are coming to India. India has always been known for its big heart and if the government is preparing to deport them back to Myanmar then it will be against the ideology of India.
Giving asylum to Rohingyas in India, will not only lead to demographic changes but also a threat to national security because of their affiliation with Pakistan-based terrorist organisations. Your comment.
More than ten thousand Rohingyas are living in Jammu and five months back, J&K chief minister said that Rohingyas are not a threat to India. A huge number of refugees are living in developed countries. If they don’t have any problem with them, then why should India have any problem with Rohingyas. If we don’t give them shelter here, it will be difficult for them to get any place in the world. As your mentioning about their affiliation with terrorist outfits, it should be investigated by our security agencies. But in my view, there are no such charges on them; they are not involved in any wrong doing.
Even Bangladesh is not ready to keep them.
I don’t know about Bangladesh, I am only concerned about India.
Pakistani refugees in Jammu have been living for last 65 years. Should they not be given resident certificates by Mehbuba Mufti’s government on humanitarian grounds?
I don’t know about this, if it is true then they should be given that certificate.
Kashmiri Pundits were dragged out from Kashmir, as a parliamentarian, why don’t you raise this issue?
Look, Kashmiri Muslims are good human beings. They are ready to welcome Pundits in the Valley. Pakistan always tried to bring unrest in Kashmir by spreading terrorism and by causing miseries to Pundits.
Kiren Rijiju has said that all Rohingyas will be deported as soon as possible.
Kiran Rijiju is not above Indian Constitution. Now the matter is in Supreme Court and the apex court will give verdict in its own way. We too have filed a petition in Supreme Court.
