Power from new coke oven battery heat soon

The Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP)-the flagship unit of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) will utilise the heat contained in the hot coke for generating steam and power.The heat produced using conventional coke quenching process for steel making was earlier going waste in the plant. The power would be generated from the new 7 metre coke oven battery of the plant using the coke dry quenching technology, officials stated. Notably, BSP also is setting up the ultra modern Universal Rail Mill of 1.2 MT capacity with all the associated facilities to cater to the requirements of Indian Railways with enhanced quality at Universal Rail Mill complex.
