Kajol The Mafia Mom

Updated: August 30, 2014 3:54 pm

Kajol’s last turn on screen was as a cancer-stricken mother in We Are Family, the 2010 adapation of the Hollywood Stepmom. After a long break the actress is finally set to return with a film which will be co-produced by husband Ajay Devgn. According to a leading tabloid the film is an adaptation of the Dutch TV series Penoza. Deepak Dhar, whose company is co-producing the film with Ajay, confirmed the news saying, “Yes, we are adapting Penoza. Ram Madhvani is a wonderful director. We are looking forward to working with him. A source close to the development told the tabloid, “Kajol’s comeback had to be a big and meaningful project. Hence both the producers took their time before zeroing down on Penoza. A few modifications are likely to be made to the original series. Ram returns to wield the megaphone after 12 years with this film.”

Salman Promotes Isabelle

Salman Khan will take off for a three day tour of Toronto in the end of this month to promote his production venture Dr Cabbie that stars his rumoured ex, Katrina Kaif’s sister, Isabel in the lead. The flash-decision to fly in Salman to Toronto was apparently taken in a move to upstage a film fest there that starts in September. The Jean-Francois Pouliet directorial was going to premiere at the film festival but with a clutter of Hindi films being lined up for screening this year, the film’s male lead, Toronto based actor Vinay, and his entrepreneur dad Ajay Virmani have reportedly decided against screening it at the festival. While details of Salman’s activities in Toronto are being kept a secret, sources have said that he would spend an extensive part of his time interacting with Indian cab drivers in Toronto as the film is about a cabbie.

Love Rule The Roost Here

Ranveer Singh is one of those rare breeds who wouldn’t mind taking extreme measures when it comes to love, including laying down his life at the feet of his beloved—even if it is just for a film scene. The actor was apparently dying to die for his ladylove Deepika Padukone. He urged director Homi Adajania to cast him in the role of her dead husband in Finding Fanny. And he didn’t charge a single penny for this special appearance. The prospect of spending some quality time with Deepika in Goa, where the film was being shot, was incentive enough for Ranveer. And the actor ended up spending a week in the hippie land with Arjun Kapoor and Deepika, although he was required for just half a day of shoot. Homi is now looking forward to working with Ranveer in a full-fledged role.

Opening In Style

Breaking away from its trademark seriousness and intensity, the first episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 8 was recently shot amid much fanfare in front of thousands of cheering fans in Surat. Show host Amitabh Bachchan kept his promise to the residents of Gujarat with the gala shoot in the city. For the past several seasons, the popular show has always maintained a level of seriousness. However, for this season the channel decided to give the popular show a comical twist and shot with a few prominent small-screen celebrities. Comedy King Kapil Sharma, the host for the evening, left the audience in splits with his impeccable comic timing. He also sat on the ‘hot seat’ for the first time and experienced the tension that contestants feel and presented his own hilarious takes on that. “To my dear friend Kapil Sharma, a most grateful thanks for last night…he made the KBC show look incredible,” Big B tweeted after the event.
