A Smart Revolutionary Phone
Apple’s new iPhone 5s with higly-advanced hardware and software has created a whirlpool in the market. But is it a revolutionary phone or just a smart packaging?
Apple dropped a bomb on this Diwali by launching its newly enhanced phone iPhone 5s in the Indian subcontinent. The phone was launched on November 1, 2013, on the special occasion of Dhan Teras and was sold out within 24 hours. The new phone, taking the shell of the previous model, adds some new bits and pieces, and packs well with the new heavily geared hardware and software configurations. Apple has also introduced a revolutionary system Touch ID which records your fingerprint as the password. And backed by powerful A7 coupled with M7 chip, Apple has smartly improved the processor and prolonged the battery life.
IPhone 5s looks promising with its highly advanced hardware configurations as it has introduced world’s first 64-bit smartphone CPU. The A7 chipset is a 64-bit dual-core ARM processor which runs on 1.29 GHz. The 64-bit processing undoubtedly boosts performance and provides 2x boost to both CPU and GPU power. Apple has also introduced new M7 chipset which allows the main CPU to snooze while it tracks the motion of the phone, through the accelerometer, gyrometer and compass. The phone is loaded with 1 GB RAM and works smoothly on the new IOS7. IPhone 5s runs on OpenGL ES 3.0 which takes the graphics and gaming experience to the next level.
Display, Design and Camera
The display of the iPhone 5S is just as it was on the iPhone 5: a 4-inch Retina display IPS LCD Full HD panel with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. 5s comes with an 8-megapixel rear and 1.2-megapixel camera with True Tone Flash which ensures a better lighting while you are clicking a photo. The design of the phone looks similar to its predecessor.
Apple has taken a step ahead in the security section by introducing a new function known as Touch ID. Touch ID is a fingerprint scanner that records your fingerprint as your password. That’s one thing which is the USP of the product as it works pretty seamlessly. However, it is very limited in terms of its functionality as it is only used to unlock iPhone and approve purchases in the App Store and the iTunes Store.
Just like the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5s offers that same Wi-Fi, dual-band, Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth 4.0 options, along with full support for Apple’s AirPlay and AirDrop clients. The handset also supports 4G bands.
Overall, Apple’s iPhone 5s is an advance version of iPhone 5. It is true that the advances on the iPhone 5s are few, but the ones that are there are very impressive indeed. However, the design and display remind us of the predecessor but it is a perfect option for the smartphone lovers.
