The Sarsanghchalak of RSS Mohan Bhagwat is well known as a down-to-earth person. He is also known as a hardliner. But he does not believe in ostentation, and always maintains a distance from media exposures, political indulgence, etc. It was again witnessed by one incident. He was invited in the much-talked about wedding reception of Nitin Gadkari’s son. Gadkari wanted Bhagwat to come on the day all the VVIPs were coming. But Bhagwat candidly refused showing his busyness. Gadkari offered him to come in a chartered plane but Bhagwat again refused. Mohan Bhagwat attended the ceremony when other RSS workers were invited. This is truly a characteristic of a self-effacing man.
It seems that Sushil Modi is still immersed in the spell of the current victory in the Bihar assembly elections. Although he was never known for good interaction with the party workers, he is now seen behaving rudely even with the general people. It was seen in a Janata Darbar organised by Modi at his residence in Patna. An old man came there to beg for his help as his daughter was missing. He told Modi that he suspected that his daughter had been abducted and police was refusing to even register an FIR. Having heard his urge for help, Modi replied curtly that maybe his daughter had not been abducted but she might have run away with her boyfriend. This remark jolted the old man, who was slighted in front of all people present in the Janata Darbar. One person rightly raised the question on holding such darbars by commenting if Modi was not going to help anyone, why was he organising Janata Darbar?
Birds of a feather?
BJP is in a dilemma regarding its one of the senior leaders Murli Manaohar Joshi. Joshi is the Chairman of PAC and Congress has started to give more weightage to it. So Joshi is getting more focus and he wants to utilise this situation to make his position strong within the party. BJP is stuck to the demand of JPC but Joshi is working more actively for PAC. It is said that he was told by the party to go slow on PAC, but he refused. Sources said that Congress wants to utilise him as he had used Somnath Chatterjee on the issue of nuclear deal when it was able to divide the Left. BJP has already blamed Congress for trying to divide BJP. The grapevine has the buzz in the corridors of power that Congress has offered Joshi that all the cases on Ayodhya issue will be abolished if he cooperates on PAC.
Both the Congress and the BJP are busy in blaming each other on different issues. Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi seized the opportunity when one general secretary of BJP was dragged in the Radiagate connection. When BJP Spokesperson Rajeev Pratap Rudy was replying the question raised by Singhvi at a press conference, he was asked about a comment made by another Congress Spokesperson Manish Tiwari, who had said that people who are demanding for JPC are living in gutter. Having heard this, Rudy was down in mouth and refused to comment, saying that these comments are below political decency. It is no secret that Rudy and Tiwari are very good friends from college time.
