According to experts, apple contains less amount of calories, sodium and glysamic index. Apples have zero fat but are rich in carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. It contains nutrients that can prevent or reduce the risk of colon cancer, prostrate cancer and lung cancers.

Its fiber absorbs the cholesterol from the intestines and throws it out through the stool. This prevents LDL from entering the blood. However since heavy dosage of pesticides are being used to make them red and bigger, it is necessary that they are washed in running water thoroughly and scrubbed and dried with clean cloth to minimise the toxic effects of the pesticides.
