Make Arundhati eat crow
The festival season is at its peak. Everyone is gripped with the fever of the festivity, as Deepavali’s colour permeates all over. Everyone is exchanging greetings of harmony and happiness to their dear ones on the occasion of the festival of light. But these greetings ought not to be stopped even after the festive season, as the so-called ‘rights-wallah liberals’ are hell-bent on vitiating the ambience so as to push the country into the abyss of anarchist darkness. One such ‘rights-wallah liberal’ Arundhati Roy said, “Kashmir has never been an integral part of India. It is a historical fact. Even the Indian government has accepted this.” She made this statements at a seminar organised by the Coalition of Civil Societies in Delhi last fortnight. But then it is not a new development, as she calls Maoists ‘Gandhians with Guns’, and champions the cause of terrorists and illegal infiltrators under the garb of freedom of speech. In this backdrop it is worth raising some posers to the ‘brigade of rights-wallahs’, i.e. Ask Arundhati about Baluchistan, which wants independence from Pakistan. Ask Arundhati about Waziristan in NWP of Pakistan, which demands independence from Pakistan. Ask Arundhati about Sindhis who do not want to be ruled by Punjabis of Pakistan, who are also dominating the Pakistani Army. Ask Arundhati why Geelani and Pakistani agents in Kashmir should not be thrown out like Sindhi Hindus were thrown out from Sindh.
These ‘human rights’ traitors are worse than jehadi terrorists. The comments made by Ms Roy are absolutely anti-Indian. This is outrageous. This is against national spirit and nationalism. Her thoughts are demonic and do not stand the scrutiny of a civilized society, as she is attacking the integrity of the country. This is nothing short of sedition. Had she made such similar comments in some other country she would have been behind bars. Then why does the government not prosecute her?
She travelled to Shopian, the apple-town in South Kashmir which had remained closed for 47 days last year in protest against the brutal rape and murder of Asiya and Nilofer, the young women whose bodies were found in a shallow stream near their homes and whose murderers have still not been brought to justice. Though it happened last year, she visited the place “now” because her heart bleeds for a common Kashmiri, as she met Shakeel, Nilofer’s husband and Asiya’s brother. However, she did not meet Kashmiri Pandits, who have been driven out of Kashmir and are living in miserable conditions as refugees in their own country.
The sad fact is that there is no solution to the agonies of Kashmiri Pandits as long as the educated lot do not realise the importance of patriotism. It is people like Arundhati Roy, who are seen on TV supporting human rights (she even considers terrorists humans). This bunch of ‘rights-wallhs’ wear UV protection glasses, with designer watches and expensive hand-made dresses (made by those poor Kashmiris, or dalits, tribals or other suppressed people) and ‘visit’ such places, with Nike, Reebok or something of that sort to protect their feet and make the walking comfortable. After the trip, they will adorn another expensive, exclusive silk outfit, wear some ethnic looking accessories and jewellery and do a special make up to look sober and present a press conference—full of utter crap! “I am on this side of line. I do not care…pick me up, put me in jail,” Ms Roy says. That’s what she often says. It is her ambition to become a global celebrity by drawing attention, whatever be the cause. Ms Roy does not care if her statements are at the cost of her motherland. She wants the government to arrest her, put her in jail then there would be a hue and cry by the so-called human rights activists, all the international focus would be on her. Anyways, this is how the world is; one can’t help it, but the world knows and remembers the people who unite humans, bridge the differences between them, and give them the message of love.
So, do not give credit to the person, who claims to hold the baton of liberty and justice in India.I think the strength of Indian democracy is the ability of the likes of Ms Roy voicing their opinion. However, to take an anti-establishment view without understanding the details has become a habit for Ms Roy. She has not understood the issues at hand. If someone studies the history of J&K, the military occupation of J&K came in place after 1990, the year when the Valley was “cleansed” of Hindu minorities and terrorism began to unfold. Ms Roy, please get your facts right before talking about such sensitive topics. Kashmiris don’t need yet another leader, who would incite them for violence. They need a person with true bearing to soothe their pains and not someone like Ms Roy who is happy to see people indulge in violence. And if we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. And Ms Roy wants the Kashmiris to believe exactly the same. Therefore such speeches, protests and more curfews are only going to make the harsh winter even worse. It’s high time the Kashmiri people realised that progress is possible only if there is peace. They have already lost the tourist season this year. We wish they don’t lose another.
Finally, may the festival of lights be the harbinger of joy and prosperity—best wishes on Deepavali and New year.
