Shree Cement Limited, the largest cement manufacturer of North India and among top five cement manufacturers in the country, paid a cumulative advance tax of Rs. 132 crore in the past three quarters ending December 2009 and registered a 25 per cent increase over the corresponding quarter in 2008 when it paid Rs. 106 crore. However, the total tax paid for the quarter ending December 2009 saw a decline of 22 per cent where the company paid an advance tax of Rs. 31 crore as compared to Rs. 40.50 crore over the corresponding period last year.

IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Limited (IOLCP), one of the largest producers of APIs, (active pharmaceutical ingredients Ibuprofen and specialty chemicals in India, has announced that the company has bagged two most prestigious National Energy Conservation Awards for both its divisions. New Kid On The Block
Uninor, the mobile service by Norway’s Telenor Group and India’s Unitech Wireless marks its entry in the Indian telephony space from Thursday. Uninor, it will be available in seven Indian telecom circles, making it the largest single day launch in the telecom history as well making it the widest coverage any operator has launched within India. With this Uninor will cover a footprint of close to 600 million people in the fastest growing wireless telephony market. The circles where the Uninor service has been simultaneously launched are Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh East, Uttar Pradesh West and Bihar (including Jharkhand). The operations of Uninor in India will be headed by Stein-Erik Vellan as the Managing Director of the telecom firm. Speaking on the launch Vellan remarks, “With launch in seven circles and roaming agreements in place for the rest, we have started our service in India on day one as a pan-Indian national operator. This is a proud achievement of a committed and talented team. While our launch today is indeed a milestone in a longer journey to become a significant operator in India, we are delighted to have made such a strong start.”
