After the imposition of nationwide lockdown, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sarsangchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat, for the first time addressed RSS volunteers.
“When people were bound by some rules and guidelines, they felt that they are being prohibited from doing things. RSS made a decision in March itself & cancelled all its programs till June end. But some people might feel that govt is prohibiting our programmes,” said Sarsangchalak Bhagwat.
Bhagwat’s address was being broadcast live from Sangh’s headquarter in Nagpur.
“The 130 Crore population of India are the children of Bharat Mata & our brothers. This should be kept in mind. There should be no fear or anger from both sides. Rational & responsible people should protect their groups from this. If this is not done what happens?” Said Bhagwat.
In reference to the religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat at Delhi’s Nizamuddin locality which infected thousands of people in the country, Dr Bhagwat said, “There are some elements who are trying to incite the public… Some politicians are also involved… We can’t harbour ill-will against the entire community for mistakes of few individuals.”
Sarsangchalak Mohan Bhagwat also raised Maharashtra’s Palghar issue where two Sadhus were lynched to death. He said, Should lynching of two Sadhus have happened? Should law and order be taken into one’s hands? What should have Police done? All of this is something to think about.
RSS chief in his address also appealed public to follow the lockdown restrictions in place and cooperate with the authorities.
