United Opposition ‘boycotts’ Rajya Sabha

Opposition today boycotted the Rajya Sabha (RS) alleging that the House’s chairman, Venkaiah Naidu, wasn’t allowing them to speak and raise governance issues.

According to TOI report, agitated opposition members in Rajya Sabha today went into a huddle with the leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad after the House was adjourned until 2 pm within minutes of meeting for the day. They claimed they had a lot of issues to discuss and were most displeased by the adjournment so soon after.

“We find this un-democratic and we’ll also give this in writing to the RS chairman. Representatives who come from various places of the country are not being allowed to speak in the house,” said Congress MP Anand Sharma.
