Australian Open: South Korea’s Chung Hyeon stuns Novak Djokovic; reaches Grand Slam quarters

South Korea’s Hyeon Chung continued his dream run in the Australian Open, stunning former world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia 7-6, 7-5, 7-6 and reach a Grand Slam quarter-final for the first time in his career. Chung also became the first Korean to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament.

For a place in the semi-finals, Chung will now take on the United States’ Tennys Sandgren, who will also be making his debut in a Grand Slam quarter-final.Sandgren beat fifth-seed Dominic Thiem of Austria 6-2, 4-6, 7-6, 6-7 and 6-3.

Defending champion Roger Federer eased through to the Australian Open quarter-finals with a straight-set win over Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics 6-4, 7-6, 6-2. He will now play fellow veteran Tomas Berdych, a semi-finalist in 2014 and 2015.In today’s matches, Grigor Dimitrov will take on Kyle Edmund while Rafael Nadal to meet Marin Cilic.
