The nation is remembering Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his death anniversary today. The Father of the Indian Constitution died on this day in 1956.The day is observed every year as Mahaparinirvan Diwas.
President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid floral tributes at Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s statue on his 62nd Mahaparinirvan Diwas at the Parliament House lawns in New Delhi.
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Deputy Speaker M Tahmidurai, former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot and other dignitaries also offered tributes to Dr Ambedkar at Parliament House lawns.
In a tweet,Prime Minister Modi said, Dr Ambedkar gave the nation its social vision, economic vision, constitutional vision and in a way the fundamental values for running of the society and nation. Mr Modi said, he felt extremely blessed when he prayed at Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai. Dr Ambedkar was cremated in Chaitya Bhoomi.
