The Jammu & Kashmir Police on Tuesday said they will ask Pakistan to collect the body of militant outfit Jaish e Muhammad Chief Moulana Masood Azhar’s nephew Talha Rasheed killed in a gunfight with security forces in Aglar village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama last night.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Munir Ahmad Khan said, Jaish-e-Muhammad has owned Talha Rasheed. He said, the matter will be taken up through proper channels.
The IGP said, there are around 16 to 20 Jaish-e-Mohammad militants active across the Kashmir valley.
Talha Rasheed, nephew of JeM Chief Azhar Masood and Mohammad Bhai, including a local militant, Wasim Ahmad Ganie alias Waseem Tiger were killed in the gunfight. Talha and Mohammad were ‘A’ category militants.
The press conference was jointly addressed by the IGP JK Police, IG CRPF and General Officer Commanding (GOC) Victor Force.
Major General B.S. Raju, GOC Victor Force, said that we have recovered an M4 carbine, a US made weapon used by NATO forces, from the gunfight site.
He said, this was first time that a US made weapon was recovered from the militants in Kashmir.
IG CRPF said, there was interference by locals who threw stones during the operation.
